In history, agate portrait cameos were often gifts from royalty to their subjects. The finest of these antique cameos, some more than 2000 years old are often displayed in museums.
Recently Gareth Eckley made this cameo brooch of Pocahontas. This was presented to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II while she was in Richmond, Virginia as part of the 400th anniversary of the Jamestown settlement.

What is the order process ?
I am only accepting a limited number of projects over the coming year. Please contact me via email with your request. I will respond quickly with information on my availability and expected lead times for your order.
The first step is to send me your photos. My photo guide explains how best to do this. I will send a design proposal within a few days. My goal is to create the very best design for your Jewel. I welcome your ideas and you will have direct contact with the portrait artist at all times by email or phone.
Guide to prices
A portrait cameo can range in price from $5,000 to over $50,000 in US dollars. For the UK that is from £2,500 to over £25,000. I can only give an exact price quote after viewing your photographs and learning more of your wishes for the design of the Cameo Jewel.
Layaway Plan
Portraits in Stone does offer a Layaway Plan. This makes it easier to own a gemstone cameo portrait by making small payments over time for your custom cameo jewel.
